Doula Services
Complimentary Consultation Visit
This preliminary interview gives doula and potential client a chance to discuss the mother's wishes and what services she might need, as well as get a feeling for a good working relationship. Birth is personal, and it is very important that a client is comfortable with her doula, so it is highly recommend you interview more than one to find a good fit! These visits are generally 1-2 hours, can take place from the client's home or a public location of choice, and are guided by the mother along with specific questions from the doula to aid discussion.
Full Doula Services
A full service package includes two prenatal visits, formulation of birth plan, doula attendance at a regular prenatal appointment with client and healthcare provider (recommended if desired), on-call 24/7 service from 38 weeks, postpartum visit, and breastfeeding initiation support (if desired). This package is recommended for a client seeking traditional doula services for education, advocacy and support that encompasses client, partner and family throughout pregnancy. Services might also include tending to siblings at a home birth. The doula can labor with the woman at home or arrive at the birth destination.
Birth Plan Consulting
Two 45min sessions to discuss birth preferences and formulate a plan. Sessions scheduled in the second and third trimester, before 38 weeks. Clients will receive guidance in creating a plan and will learn helpful questions for their chosen healthcare provider. Availability through email for follow up questions and editing.
Education
Childbirth Class for Siblings: (price and schedule TBA, estimated due date 2016)
An abbreviated, age appropriate version of a regular childbirth class designed to peak the curiosity of young people who want to know more about the birth about to take place in their lives. Topics include physiology (proper anatomical terms used thoughtfully), sights and sounds of labor, basic description of a newborn baby, breastfeeding, and discussion of how young children can participate caring for their new sibling. This course is meant to supplement home discussion, and to help normalize childbirth for children in a peer group setting. Children receive a "Certificate of Completion" , coloring sheets, and a book to take home. Highly recommended for children who might attend the birth of a sibling. Children may only attend with a parent or legal guardian.
