About the Doula
Katie Lamb graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2008 from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Fascinated with the anatomy and physiology of childbirth from a very young age, it wasn't until she gave birth naturally to her first baby that the deep emotion and empowerment truly resonated within her. She began a doula self study training program with Childbirth International in 2010.
When her family relocated from Tennessee to Mississippi in 2011, Katie discovered that her call to ministry, which evolved in many different ways over the years, blossomed more fully as she served childbearing women; a profoundly humbling role. Katie believes that education, support, and trust in the process of childbirth lead to the most fulfilling birth experiences. She hopes to guide women to find their own unique voice and inner strength in their births.
Katie now has four children. She and her family reside in Baton Rouge, and she is thrilled with the opportunity to work with pregnant women from all walks of life in our community. Emphasizing continuing education and proactive community support, she desires to train in bereavement and postpartum doula roles, along with developing classroom opportunities such as a youth childbirth education (for siblings). She is also available to support teen mothers, or women planning adoption.
